Senior Experience

The Senior Experience Program at Barnard College seeks to assist seniors in celebrating the close of their undergraduate experience through interdepartmental programming that will provide students with the opportunity to reflect on their college experience and support in post-college transitioning.  As sponsored by the Office of Residential Life and Housing, the Senior Experience Program is the second in a pair of Residential Life bookmarks that exemplifies the college’s commitment to an education that goes beyond the boundaries of the classroom.  The Office of Residential Life and Housing has and will continue to collaborate with various campus offices including Alumnae Affairs, Barnard Senior Fund, Dean of Studies, Office of Career Development, Senior Class Council, and the Office of College Activities to prepare senior class for the next chapter of their lives.

The Office of Residential Life and Housing is proud to collaborate with various campus offices and strives to meet the needs of seniors by constantly gauging the dynamics of Barnard’s community and evolving in accordance with the mission, purpose, and five goals of the senior experience program:

  1. Enhance awareness of and support seniors dealing with personal transition and adjustment issues
  2. Provide seniors with opportunities to enhance their professional skills to facilitate a smooth transition from the academic to the professional world
  3. Assist seniors in their preparation for postgraduate education
  4. Help seniors identify strategies to effectively plan for practical life after college
  5. Encourage a sense of unity and community amongst the senior class
